Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis Joins the Mark43 Board of Directors

Today is a big day for all of us at Mark43. Over the last few months, my team and I have had the pleasure of getting to know one of law enforcement’s greatest leaders and thinkers, outgoing Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis. When we met Ed in the fall at a public safety hackathon, a rarity in the startup world, we instantly saw that he had a keen appreciation for technology and its ability to enhance police work. In every subsequent conversation, we found ourselves learning more and more from his experiences and his insights into police procedures. It was such a natural fit that we knew we wanted Ed on board. As of today, it’s my honor to announce that Commissioner Davis will be joining our board of directors.

Most of us know of Ed for his leadership and resolve throughout the week of the Boston Marathon Bombings. During the tragic events surrounding the attack, most of the Mark43 team was in Boston, locked in our dorms and apartments. As we watched the coverage unfold, Ed was ever present, managing the crisis and providing a strong voice of reason. He not only successfully managed a law enforcement operation of unprecedented scale but also brought the city together during a time of great anxiety and sadness. Ed was the leader Boston needed.

He not only successfully managed a law enforcement operation of unprecedented scale but also brought the city together during a time of great anxiety and sadness.

As Mark43 continues to grow in 2014, Ed will be essential to the success of our strategy. With deployments in Los Angeles County and the upcoming announcement that one of America’s largest cities will completely switch over to our platform, there is much work to be done. Ed will be far more than a director on our board. He will work closely with our management team and our engineers, he’ll advise on product direction, design, and features, and we’ll work together to continue to spread the Mark43 platform throughout the nation and the rest of the world.

I speak for the whole Mark43 team when I say that we couldn’t be more excited to work with Ed to bring law enforcement software into the 21st century.
