George Hamilton
Sir George Hamilton was Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) from 2014 to 2019. He retired from policing in June 2019 after 34 years having served in Northern Ireland, England and Scotland.
Since stepping down as Chief Constable, Sir George has been a strategic advisor to Mark 43 and other organisations. He advises governments and organisations on policing, crisis and risk management, organisational change, governance, ethics and transformation. He is on the Board of Cooperation Ireland – a charity that promotes peace and reconciliation in post-conflict Northern Ireland. He holds several Non-Executive Director positions in highly successful companies in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States.
He is a Visiting Professor at Ulster University, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws by Ulster University for services to policing and the community in 2019 and an Honorary Doctorate of the University from Queens University Belfast for distinction in public service in 2021.
Sir George holds a Bachelors degree in Politics and Economics and Masters in Business Administration. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
