Heading Back West: Mark43 Expands in California

2017 has been a big year for Mark43 on the West Coast. Two months ago, a consortium of departments led by Hawthorne, CA (including Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Gardena, El Camino College, El Segundo, and Culver City) signed a competitively-awarded contract to deploy Mark43’s industry-changing CAD and RMS.

Signaling our commitment to all west coast agencies, I’m happy to announce that earlier this year, we opened a physical office in California. Located in the heart of Manhattan Beach, our dedicated team of project managers and support personnel will work exclusively with our West Coast clients to ensure successful launches and personal support.

While this is just the beginning of our surge on the West Coast, Mark43’s history in California goes back years to the founding of the company. In the summer 2013, before setting up permanently in New York City, my co-founders and I left Boston and moved out to Los Angeles.  At that point, Mark43 was just beginning, and a few departments in Los Angeles County were willing to mentor us.  We were eager to help our first responders, and soon writing code during the day and doing ride alongs at night became the norm for us. Mark43’s officer-centered approach to design started right in Los Angeles County.

Four years later, some things have changed — we’re now at around 100 employees, we have offices in Manhattan, Los Angeles, Toronto, and the Washington, D.C. area, and we have pulled off the most successful major city deployment of a records management system. The Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is still thriving on our platform. We have reduced their incident and offense reporting time by 80%, the equivalent of adding over 110 new police officers to the force.  Now, we’re taking that success out west.

From coast to coast, 2017 will be an exciting year for Mark43. In the next several months, we’ll make some major announcements of new clients. Stay tuned!
