The Fort Myers Police Department is unwavering in its dedication to protecting their Florida community, even in the most challenging conditions. Facing the devastation of hurricanes like Ian, they had a resilient, adaptable solution to ensure uninterrupted service and effective response, no matter the circumstances.
With the Mark43 Public Safety Platform, Fort Myers Police Department has transformed their response capabilities. Chief Jason Fields and Captain William Musante, joined by other key members of the department, share how Mark43’s cloud-native system—including CAD, RMS, and Analytics—kept them connected during the hurricane, even enabling seamless support of neighboring agencies when their dispatch systems failed.
“We never broke stride. Because Mark43 is cloud-based we stayed up, we kept taking calls from the public—thousands of 911 calls for help—we could put those into the system just like it was any other day.” –Captain William Musante
“During Hurricane Ian when we lost all communication with the city network we came back and got mobile air cards and were able to set up our dispatch with Mark43 CAD and RMS just from those air cards. We never missed a beat—we lost everything else except for Mark43 CAD and RMS,” said Lieutenant Daniel Morency.
With Mark43, Fort Myers Police Department is now able to respond faster, write reports on the go, ensure responding officers have situational knowledge to improve public safety outcomes and focus on mission-critical priorities. This technology upgrade has ensured the safety and resilience of their community—even when facing the toughest of challenges. “Mark43 was able to keep us up and running, and by doing that we’re able to respond to calls for service, help people in crisis and also partner with other local public safety agencies,” said Chief Jason Fields.
The Mark43 Public Safety Platform is streamlining workflows and improving interoperability across systems. “What I love most is the interoperability of the Mark43 CAD and RMS—they talk to each other. It reduces time for an officer when they are dispatched to a call. If they have to complete a report they can simply push a button to open up the report and all the data from the CAD will come into that. We live by our data and what is in our systems and the fact that it is all there together is great,” said Lieutenant Lesa Hodgkins.
“I’m not super IT savvy, but the user-friendly interface has helped us out tremendously. One of the unique features is that Mark43 works on any platform—works on your desktop, iPhone, tablet—just those capabilities and the versatility enhances our responses.” –Chief Jason Fields
With its user-friendly interface, seamless integration between CAD and RMS and comprehensive Analytics, Mark43 is empowering the department and officers to work more efficiently, reduce response times, and enhance data-driven decision-making for a safer Fort Myers community. Captain William Musante noted, “I’ve worked with many CAD and RMS systems over my 30-year career and Mark43 stands out as far as their customer service, their responsiveness, their willingness to actually listen to you and ask you what you need, what needs to change, what needs to be adapted to make our jobs easier.”
Mark43 is the ultimate public safety partner, providing 24/7/365 support when you need it most. As Chief Jason Fields puts it, “The partnership has been absolutely amazing. I wish we had known about it a little bit sooner, it probably could have helped us in a couple of different areas, but extremely happy with the product and we look to use Mark43 and be a partner with Mark43 for many years to come.” Together, we’re paving the way forward to a safer Florida.
